American Red Cross Pet Dog and/or Cat First Aid Course


Course Description:

  • This course is taught individually either Dog / Cat first aid or you can choose both.
  • Explain how, when and where to call for emergency assistance with an injured pet.
  • Understand how to find vital signs and behaviors that are "normal" for a dog or cat.
  • Identify signals of cardiac arrest and demonstrate how to provide care
  • In this course you will learn the steps of CPR for your dog or cat
  • Identify life threatening bleeding emergencies and how to provide care.
  • You will learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of various injuries, sudden illness, poisoning, seizures and heat and cold emergencies and how to care for them.
  • The correct steps on when and how to move a injured pet.
  • How to deal with breathing emergencies, such as choking.
